During the course of 2017, FFEC will look into a number of issues of concern involving the 2016 presidential election. Visit this page to find information posted about the following topics:

  • HACKING & DISINFORMATION: Did a foreign government choose our president? What is the evidence? How can we tell the facts from propaganda? How can we protect our elections from cyber-warfare?
  • INACCURATE PREDICTIONS & THEIR EFFECT ON THE OUTCOME:  Leading up to and throughout Election Day, the media, polls, and statistical models confidently projected a Clinton victory. How did the experts get it so wrong? Does the difference between predictions and results cast doubt on the integrity of the vote? Did the predictions themselves influence the outcome?
  • VOTER FRAUD & VOTER SUPPRESSION:  What about claims that millions of non-citizens voted in 2016? Will these allegations be used to disenfranchise minority voters? What can be done to clean up the rolls without jeopardizing the rights of legitimate voters?
    • States Should Refuse Request for Private Voter Data. July 3, 2017. Like most of the country's election integrity and voting rights organizations, FFEC believes that the states should refuse a request from a presidential commission for private voter data beyond what is publicly available. Read why we think the states have the right to withhold the information and why we suspect the commission may use false assertions about voter fraud to justify new restrictions on voter registration and participation.
